On the way to Charlotte, 2024

We took our time traveling to our new home in Charlotte North Carolina, stopping at 2 recreational areas.

Clifty Falls State Park

This Indiana state park borders the Ohio River near the historic city of Madison, Indiana. The prizes of the park are the waterfalls. Clifty Creek and its branches flow through the park on the way to the Ohio River. The creeks flow over the limestone base exposing the layered rocks. Clifty Falls is the easiest to access and photograph, however there are a number of other falls in the park, Tunnel Falls, Little Clifty Falls, Hoffman Falls, Redbud Falls, and Dogwood Falls. Also hiking paths crisscross the large park.

Red Rock Gorge Geological Area, Kentucky

in

Daniel Boone National Forest

This huge forest has many attractions. We homed in on a part of the gorge and the natural arch. The area also offers rock climbing, hiking, ziplining, and an underground gorge. You can kayak through the underground gorge, camp in tents and rental cabins. Truly a not to miss area. Having had more time, we could have experienced many more natural wonders (like Double Arch, Star Gap Arch, Arch of Triumph Gray's Arch, Silvermine Arch, Rock Bridge, Friendship Arch and Tube and Indian Staircase).

After moving into our apartment, we were visited by a neighborhood hawk. I this a good omen?
